Premium Natural Stone Surfaces That Stand the Test of Time

There’s something about natural stone that other surfacing materials simply can’t replicate. The texture, the colour variation, the way it weathers naturally over time. If you want an outdoor surface that looks genuinely beautiful and improves with age, natural stone is hard to beat.

Natural Stone Paving That Enhances Any Property

Natural stone paving adds a level of character and quality that instantly elevates the appearance of any outdoor space. Whether you’re creating a new patio, refreshing a tired garden, or laying a striking driveway, the right natural stone transforms the result from ordinary to exceptional.

Natural Stone Specialists With Real Experience

We’ve worked with Indian sandstone, granite, slate, limestone, and a range of other natural materials over many years. We understand how different stones perform in the British climate, how to bed them correctly to prevent rocking and cracking, and how to point them in ways that last rather than crumbling after a year or two.

Every natural stone installation we complete is designed to look stunning from day one and continue improving as the stone settles into its surroundings.

Why Natural Stone Outperforms Man-Made Alternatives

Concrete paving can look acceptable for a few years, but it fades, stains, and deteriorates in ways that natural stone simply doesn’t. Good quality natural stone, properly installed, looks better after ten years than most man-made alternatives look after two. It also tends to add more value to a property, as buyers recognise the quality immediately.

Our team helps you choose the right stone type for your intended use, whether that’s a busy driveway, a family patio, or a decorative garden pathway.

What We Install:

Our Natural Stone Paving Process

Stone Types and Design Possibilities

Choosing the right natural stone involves more than just picking a colour you like. Different stones have different properties, and some are better suited to certain applications than others. Our team explains the characteristics of each stone type so you can make an informed decision that you’ll be happy with for decades.

We also help with design choices, including laying patterns, border details, and how to blend different stones for a more interesting result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Indian sandstone is the most popular choice for patios due to its warm tones and natural variation. Granite is extremely hard wearing and suits driveways and high-traffic areas well. Slate offers a striking contemporary look, whilst limestone provides a lighter, more elegant finish. The right choice depends on your property style and intended use, which we discuss during our initial visit.

Sealing isn't strictly necessary but is highly recommended for most natural stone surfaces in the UK climate. A good quality sealant protects against staining, reduces water absorption, and makes the surface easier to clean. It also enhances the natural colour of the stone. We advise on the most appropriate sealant for your specific stone type.

This depends on the stone type and finish chosen. Riven or textured finishes offer much better grip than smooth, polished surfaces. Indian sandstone with a natural riven finish performs well in wet conditions. We always recommend appropriate finishes for areas that receive regular foot traffic, particularly steps and pathways.

Regular sweeping removes debris that can cause staining if left. Gentle pressure washing is effective for general cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals and acidic cleaners, as these can damage natural stone surfaces over time. For stubborn stains, specialist stone cleaning products designed for the specific stone type give the best results without causing damage.

Natural stone paving for front gardens and driveways falls under the same rules as other surfacing. If the surface is permeable, or if rainwater drains to a lawn or planted border rather than onto the highway, planning permission is generally not required. We advise on drainage requirements during our initial assessment of your property.

Natural stone is one of the most durable paving materials available. Properly installed natural stone paving can last 30 to 50 years or longer. Some historic properties still have original stone paving that's over a century old. The key is proper sub-base preparation, correct bedding, and good quality pointing that prevents movement and water ingress.
